Gulden Akin is an associate professor doctor in Adult Education and Lifelong Learning. She teaches "Gender and Adult Education", "Different Approaches in Adult Education", "Out of School Learning Environments" and "Lifelong Learning Policies" at Ankara University in Turkey. She obtained her PhD in 2010 with a dissertation on developing an educational program enhanced with andragogical principles. Her research focuses on education of vulnerable groups among adults e.g., people in prison, women, and immigrants. She is currently a visiting researcher at the research group PArticipation and Learning in Detention at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel for her sabbatical leave.
