Stefaan De Smet is Lecturer at HOGENT University of Applied Sciences and Arts where he uses his expertise as a mental health nurse (RN), MSc Gerontology and PhD Educational Sciences (VUB-UGent) in education, research and community service. His PhD study (2017) is about the characteristics and quality of life of older offenders in Flanders. Besides he developed research expertise in the field of mental health care, including competences of caregivers, community based care and forensic psychiatry.
