Prof. Dr. Marc Theeboom

Education: Master Adult Educational Sciences, PhD in Physical Education

Research themes: sports policy, youth and sport, leisure time education, sport at school, social movement education, etc.

Marc Theeboom holds a doctorate in Physical Education and a master's degree in Adult Educational Sciences. He is attached to the Vrije Universiteit Brussel as a fulltime professor at the Faculties of Physical Education and Physiotherapy (LK) and Educational Sciences (PE). He is chairman of the research group 'Sport and Society'. His reserach interests focus on the agogic and policy aspects of sports in general, and with a special focus on vulnerable groups. He is particularly interested in the development and evaluation of initiatives in which sport is used as a tool to stimulate personal and social development of special target groups.
