In 2025, Silke Marynissen finished her PhD titled "When words fail, music speaks: Understanding the processes and outcomes of participatory music programs in prison". In this study she used a realist science approach, aiming to uncover how, why, for whom and under which circumstances participatory music programs in prison work. This research was funded by the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO). Currently, Silke is part of the SBO-FWO research "Peer support Innovating Prisons" (PIP).
